Driver Quotes

Mike Forest: I’m pleased to have finished off the season with a pretty good result. The second half of the race went really well but the first half was a bit of struggle as it seemed that everyone was blocking pretty aggressively to defend their position. But it all came right by the midway point and I was able to drive really well to make up positions pretty steadily for the most part. The first and last race of the season finished quite well, now next year we’ll have to focus on bringing the middle part of the season up to the potential that I know I have. Race Recap:

(Elkhart Lake, WI) August 12, 2007 – Mike Forest scored his second best finish of the season at Road America with a 13th place in the final round of the 2007 Cooper Tires presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda. Forest made steady progress through the race to climb from his 20th position at the start to gain seven places over the course of the 22-lap race over the monster 4-mile Road America circuit.

Forest drive was made all the more special after he fell ill with a flu virus and migraine headache on Friday night that sapped him of all his energy throughout Saturday and into Sunday morning.

But the never quit attitude shone through brilliantly as Forest steadily climbed his way through the field. Beginning on lap 7, after falling to 21st for a few laps, Forest began to gain position jumping up to 15th place by lap 11. The final 4 laps witnessed an exciting duel most notably with Alan Sciuto, but also involving several other drivers. On the final lap, Forest leapt passed Sciuto and James Hinchcliff to take the checkered flag in 13th place.

Forest finishes 2007 in 23rd position with 41 points.
